Join in on the Family Fun with Pack 310!
Cub Scouts began in 1930. Lord Baden-Powell founded Scouting and was fond of the stories in The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. Akela, the Wolf, was a wise leader and adopted the boy, Mowgli, into the Pack. Baloo the Bear, helped teach Mowgli the laws of the jungle to help him live amongst the animals safely and responsibly. To this day, we use words like Den and Pack as a way of remembering how Cub Scouting began with inspiration from The Jungle Book.

Why Join Cub Scouts?
The scouting experience facilitates bonding the boys as friends through interactive team building adventures. And that goes for the parents & families as well. Joining scouts has introduced people to life-long friends who look out for each other, not to mention, just plain enjoy socializing with one another. Through scouting, your son will develop character qualities such as trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. He will also learn new skills, develop new interests, and build on his own self-confidence, all while having fun filled adventures.
We have a variety of family friendly adventures throughout the year, including: STEM Nova and Supernova Award Programs, Camp Outs and Outdoor Events, Halloween Carnivals, Pinewood Derby, Blue & Gold Banquet, Hikes, Summertime activities, and Community service projects. This Years STEM Theme is “Cubs Can Code” and we’ll be learning about computers, coding, and more!

☀ Pack 310 Summertime Event #3 ☀

Summertime Event Attire:  Pack 310 T-Shirts
(if you already have one)

⛵ 🚀SUN, August 18: Recycled Rain Gutter Regatta & Rocket Launching
  • Recycled Rain Gutter Regatta & Recycled Water Bottle Rocket Launching
  • CV Park (near Dog Park)
  • 4:00 - 6:00 PM
  • BYO Family Picnic Dinner & Recycling Bin Items for Building Boats & Launching Water Bottle / Soda Bottle Rockets

Tips for Recycling Bin Construction Items:

🚀 Water Rockets:
  • 20 oz empty soda bottles work best (Coke or Pepsi type bottle)
  • Extra water jugs (small Igloo or gallon size) for "re-fueling" the water rockets always appreciated
  • If feeling adventurous, rocket fins can be made from a cardboard box or posterboard and glued on to the bottle at home
⛵ Rain Gutter Sail Boats:
  • Please bring materials to share for boat building, such as chip bags, juice boxes, Capri-Sun containers, plastic water bottles, duct tape -- make sure everything is empty & clean.
  • Recycled small plastic water bottles & pool noodles work great for the hull of the sail boat
  • Sails can be made with a flattened Capri Sun juice package or chip bag, etc.
  • Mast could be added using a drinking straw or craft stick
  • Nickels/pennies can be taped to boat bottom for ballast if needed - boats have better chance of staying upright while sailing.
  • Purchased kits not needed - use recycled items from home and get creative (ex. bring a drinking straw or craft stick for the mast)
Ice cream will be provided.  If you have a favorite topping for ice cream afterwards, feel free to bring it along to share.  Pack 310 Summertime Events (3)☀
